FEMA All Hazard Preparedness Campaign Continues
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- On Monday July 12, 2010, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) launched an All Hazards Preparedness Campaign in hardware stores to advise people on how to rebuild implementing mitigation measures and prevent future damages. More than 1,600 persons have been reached and this effort will continue in stores located in the 10 municipalities designated to receive federal aid under FEMAs Public Assistance program for Infrastructure damages, after the May 26-31, 2010 storms and flooding event. Forthcoming Deadline To File Request for Public Assistance Funds SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Commonwealth and federal disaster recovery officials announced today that public agencies and certain private non-profit organizations needing Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) grants to rebuild infrastructure damaged or destroyed by the storms and flooding occurred from May 26-31, 2010, must submit their Request for Public Assistance (RPA) forms to the Office of the Governors Authorized Representative (GAR) no later than July 24, 2010. FEMA Re-opens Disaster Incident Period to include Severe Storms and Flooding From March 13 - March 31, 2010 Albany, N.Y. -- Federal and state officials today announced that the incident period of the severe storms has been re-opened to cover the period from March 13 - March 31, 2010 and three additonal counties -- Otsego, Schoharie, and Warren have been added to the declaration. FEMA Funds Help Repair Storm Damage At Historic Rye Playland Albany, N.Y. -- This past March, Playland Amusement Park, a National Historic Landmark located in the City of Rye in Westchester County, was damaged by a Noreaster that ripped through parts of New York State. Disaster Assistance Exceeds $33 Million For New Jersey Flood Survivors FORT MONMOUTH, N.J. -- In the 12 weeks since federal disaster assistance was made available to New Jersey homeowners, renters and business owners affected by the severe storms and flooding of mid-March, more than $33 million dollars has been distributed to assist in the recovery efforts by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
